Karlstad University

At Karlstad University (KAU) students and teachers work closely together. Science, both basic and applied, strengthens KU’s teaching and research. Physics and Chemistry are the main scientific disciplines and collaboration is under way with the business sector and academic bodies in Sweden and abroad. In Physics, researchers specialise in Materials Physics and Theoretical Physics, while prominent Chemistry specialisations are Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry and Physical Chemistry.

Karlstad has received an award for being one of Sweden’s best student towns and KAU is the only higher education institutions in Sweden to have received the ECTS Label. The county of Värmland, where Karlstad is the capital, is known for its beautiful countryside, lakes and opportunities for outdoor activities. There is also a world outside the county, and communications with Stockholm, Gothenburg and Copenhagen are excellent. KU invites students to experience its programmes in a friendly, congenial environment.
