2007-12-06MONDAY, 8 OCT.
Coming back from the exciting sampling day of last week, I found that our corridor is just in the atmosphere of tense and expectant. Then, I begin to realize that the exam is coming and everyone is preparing for it. After the reviewing of previous lessons in my weekend, I woke up full of energy this morning. Well, a good start for the new week.
About today, the most attracting part is the environ-news, which was told by my classmate about the recent research or studies of our area. I love this programme ever since I knew it in the beginning of this course. Since we are an international class with everyone coming from different part of the world, this programme just provide you with perspective of all that is going on all over the world. This time, it was two swedish girls talking about local phosphate addition issues. They had really done a good effect, getting us familiar with the local situation and issue solving method. For myself, I learned a lot more about swedish culture, and had a good lesson of how I shall do my environ-news in future as well. It makes me start to think about my lecture, which is 3 weeks away. Ah, wish myself a good job.
TUESDAY, 9-OCT
Today, we were involving in a new programme with the name of WinSGW, which is used for calculating the distribution of pollutants. And for the whole afternoon, we were in the PC lab, working hard with it, getting ourselves familiar with its functions and learning to use it for problem solving. It is not difficult, but a little bit time-consuming, so when I finished my assignment, it was already 4 o'clock. Walking on my way back to my room, I begin to realize that this is the way of Swedish study, not too hard, but you get to understand all these about what you learned. Back in China, our study was mainly designed for test, and there are really many differences between the studies of two countries. Luckily, I was able to handle these differences and do a good job.
WEDNESDAY, 10 OCT.
It's a busy day today. I, and my partner, who comes from Nigeria, had been discussing about our paper work since very early in the morning. It is just so many problems that arise when you are involved in working with people coming from a completely different background than yours, and we are wasting most of the time argue for our point of view on something that’s completely not related or little related to our subject. Our talk went so intense, that the girl living in the same corridor with me even thought that we are having a quarrel with each other. But fortunately, we were able to hand in the paper in the afternoon. Surprisingly, we found each other much more pleasuring after we turned on the assignment, perhaps due to the joint effort we made together. Anyway, it's always nice to accomplish your work on time.
THURSDAY, 11 OCT.
Another day for cooperation. This time, I should do a series of experiments with two boys. Well, we are having a very good time working together this time, as we did the experiment effectively, getting our result with satisfaction. At the end of the day, we know each other so well that we even do not need to discuss how to do the job in advance. I begin to be not so against working together, as I know that cooperating can be fun and enjoyable, and knowing each other can be very pleasant. What will my next collaborate be like? I am looking forward to it.
FRIDAY, 12 OCT.
We received the comment about our paper work from our supervisor today. Generally speaking, he considered our paper satisfying, except a few expressing and logical mistakes that should be corrected. He also advised that we add some other information to enrich our paper contain. It's always nice that your work receive positive comment of someone, but at the thought of much further work and searching should be done, we both are a little bit let-down. Time is quite tight this weekend, as we have several reports that should be done, as well as the preparation for the exam, which is right around the corner.
Then after discussion, we reach our agreement to work separately, as to save time and energy. Both of us consider this the best way to solve the problem, cause then we can found our most suitable time to do our job. By the long walk back to my place, I get back to my happy mood, as a relaxing weekend is coming. Salut, my another fulfilled week in Umeå.
