Studying Abroad: Soul Searching

Posted @ 2010-12-30 by Mayank Chauhan

Friends I am back again, don’t know how many of you have read my blog, but my hopes are still high, after reading some nice comments J.

Studying abroad = Soul searching, most of you will be wondering what I mean, and many of you will agree with me. I love my friends who are wondering, because then I have a chance to be smart again and express my feelings. I thank Swedish government for allowing many students like me to come and study without any tuition fees. But I thank them from my heart because of rediscovering the hidden potentials in everyone of us .Studying here gives you a sense of responsibility, As in one moment you are the manager managing your own finances, the next moment you are a Cook enjoying your own food and praising it whether its half cooked or 2 days old and the important thing is that, you yourself set your limits without parent or peer pressure. This is the real test of Character .

Studying in Uppsala brought me close to studying physics, maths and cooking food, which I never liked and got a lesson of my life that you come close to the things from which you were running all your life. So my dear friends just like everything around, you never know where life may lead you.

The most impeccable thing about studying in Sweden is that I miss my country more and its people, the rituals, the festivals, the relations. When I left India , then I knew I would miss my family & friends , but never in my dreams I thought I would miss my Country so much and Respect it. I think all the students from all around the world would feel the same while studying in Sweden.

In November we all Indians students in Uppsala celebrated our biggest festival Diwali with passion, love & devotion. Everybody took the pleasure of making it a grand success. We invited our professors and international students to the pooja and everybody was happy. Must say the feeling is so good and the memories are still fresh in my mind.

Recently I celebrated Christmas with my friends from Swedish class in a German fashion as we celebrated it on 24 December instead of 25 Dec, as it was the Germans way of doing it. We partied sing carols and danced all night .I enjoyed the company of my European friends , as they know how to enjoy  and keep a balance in life .We did sledging in snow that night and enjoyed it thoroughly, just to realise that when the next morning I wake up my hips were frozen and paining ..lol. Friends if you are in Sweden and you haven’t enjoyed this then must say you have missed something, so grab your sledge, shed your shyness, bring out the naughty child and get ready to roll. One thing which I would like to share is that whenever you are going to a student party in Sweden ,then bring your own booze ,because you know it better that how many drinks you want to get into the right mood. If possible cook something and bring it with you.

Now I am eagerly awaiting to celebrate new year and thank god for giving me every opportunity in 2010 .Wish you a very happy new year my friends and wish that the soul searching of your life never ends ,As it always makes you a better human being .

Being literate in life is good, but being educated in life is what I prefer always and I am learning it through my experience of studying in Sweden.
