Linnaeus University in south-eastern Sweden is a modern university with more than 35,000 students. It was formed by the merging of Kalmar and Växjö Universities at the beginning of 2010. Linnaeus University has taken its name from Carl Linnaeus, the most famous and world-renowned Swedish scientist of the last few centuries. The School of Natural Sciences in Kalmar has special competence in the area of life, health and the environment and is recognized for excellence in teaching and research across a range of natural sciences and related disciplines. The School offers master’s programmes which equip the graduate for work in industry or future studies towards a PhD.
Växjö is renowned for its comprehensive and attractive campus, a creative area where students’ study and leisure needs are met close at hand. Here you find the School of Computer Science, Physics and Mathematics. The location is superb: close to unspoilt countryside, yet only three kilometres from the city centre. The city of Växjö has 80,000 inhabitants and is centrally located in the south of Sweden, with excellent communications. Växjö is surrounded by lakes and forests, and everything is within cycling distance.
