Örebro University is one of the fastest growing universities in Sweden, with 16,000 students. The university provides education and research in science, technology, health care and medicine, as well as in humanities, law, social science, education, music and sport science. The university offers 800 courses, 60 undergraduate programmes and 30 postgraduate programmes.
Örebro Life Science Centre was established in 2005 to unite research groups within the life sciences at Örebro University and Örebro University Hospital. The researchers involved belong to both the Faculty of Science and Technology and the Faculty of Medicine, and cover the subjects of biology, chemistry and medicine. This contributes towards a solid and creative research environment, featuring strong national and international cooperation. ÖLSC’s main goal is to offer a stimulating research environment for researchers and research students alike, as well as increasing our presence both nationally and internationally.

With approximately 135,000 inhabitants, Örebro is Sweden’s seventh largest town. When you visit the town centre you will find almost everything within walking distance, and the surrounding area is home to magnificent scenery, beautiful wooden towns and two of Sweden’s largest lakes.
Örebro University has its roots in the higher education institutions established in Örebro during the 1960s. In 1977, Örebro University College was formed through a merger of the Preschool Teaching Seminary, the College of Physical Education and Sport Science, and the College of Social Sciences. Örebro University was founded in 1999.
